On Saturday 14th December Hereford Racecourse, and charity partner Save The Children, are excited to announce the biggest and most exciting raceday of the festive season – Christmas Jumper Raceday.
Encompassing the spirit of goodwill at Christmastime the raceday is themed alongside the charity's annual Christmas Jumper day, started in 2012 and raising £21million in total, which takes place on Friday 13th December.
Christmas Jumper Raceday will include all the usual thrilling racing action, as well as a Christmas Jumper competition for both adults and children. There will be free mince pies and Father Christmas hats for the first 1000 racegoers and live music throughout the day.
New this year, racegoers can donate their old or unwanted Christmas Jumpers to Save The Children, which the charity will re-use and recycle. A choir will also be performing Christmas carols for all racegoers to enjoy on the day, really contributing to the ongoing festivities.
The Racecourse are delighted that the event has already proved so popular, with all hospitality now sold-out. The great value Christmas Cracker package remains available but must be booked in advance and includes admission, Racecard, hot turkey roll, mince pie and a glass of mulled wine all for just £29.
Commenting on the event, Mandy Nicholls, Community Fundraising Manager from Save The Children, says: “We are delighted racegoers at the Christmas Jumper Raceday at Hereford Racecourse will be celebrating by ditching their racing dress and donning their daftest, most wonderful woollies to raise money for Save the Children’s eighth annual Christmas Jumper Day! Save the Children is expecting more than 5 million people across the UK to take part in the biggest, silliest Christmas Jumper Day ever. It's been a huge success and we are really delighted that Hereford Racecourse is helping to give the world’s forgotten children the chance to have a brighter future.”
